You never know what you are going to get! Random thoughts from a beloved child of God, mom, grandma, social worker, and diaconal minister about faith, life, ministry, land, things that make joy! and now person dealing with cancer.
Aahas!
Guardians of the Galaxy.....
I never thought of myself as a Sci-Fi kind of gal....but here I am, a long time Star Wars and Star Trek fan....and most recent convert to Marvel movies and TV show (I love Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. more on that later).
We took the kids and grandkids to the local theatre, enjoyed popcorn (made at the theatre, yumm) and proceeded to watch this incredible movie that had it all. Handsome lead character, strong heroine, comic hero, and many bad guys. It is a story about misfits and oddballs who come together to be the Guardians of the Galaxy. All on the fringes of their society and not accepted by their own. Together they come together to fight for justice, because no one else will.
My favorite character was a tree like character named Groot. All Groot ever said was "I am Groot". But his racoonish friend always knew what he meant and would translate. Groot was usually just there.....Groot was the made the joke sometimes.....Groot was brave and fought with honor. He was upset when someone cut his arm branches off, but he would just grow new ones.
Through the movie we came to love the character Groot.....we were surprised with his hidden talent to make lighting bug style lights that hovered and showed his friends the way.......in the end Groot showed love and care for his friends when he sacrificed himself and protected the rest of the group.
Humm....kinda sounds familiar!
Yup....I am a nerd!
